Everything you’ve ever heard about Los Angeles is true.

I have been in Los Angeles for 4 days and if there’s one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that you were right. If you offered me advice on my move, especially unsolicited advice, you were right. About everything.

I have to drive almost everywhere I go.

And when I go places I have to look for parking. Sometimes it takes several minutes.

There is traffic. More traffic than anywhere I have ever lived before.

Rent is a much higher than in Portland Oregon.

The restaurants are not as good, and the coffee is weak.

Everyone here is trying to do the same thing that I am. They are talented and good looking and determined. They get up early, and go to bed late. They make plans in the same coffee shops that I am making plans in. They follow through with their plans and sometimes they achieve success in the creative endeavor they are pursuing. Because here they can. That’s why they are here. To finish and begin again.

Everything you’ve ever heard about Los Angeles is true. It’s not pretending to be something it’s not. It is not a well kept secret or something private. It’s not precious. It’s not something you can’t know.

It is right here, naked and unflinching, being just what it is.

I love you, buddy. You will succeed. Whether that happens here or there, in the way you imagine or beyond your wildest dreams, you will succeed.

Also, palm trees (see picture, above). Plenty of reason to pay more rent. And though it’s not a food city like Portland, there is Roscoe’s Chicken n’ Waffles. So, that’s pretty big. And have you talked to the other people like you? They’re generally not as cool as you. Just ask.

And they’re not living in a shipping container like you are (that is your live/work space right?) so really, they have nothing on you. Keep throwing those punches and you’ll soon have that town sagging on the ropes. Looking forward to the continuing blogs and catching up with you in the smog.

    I agree with Rhyan…and Brad.

Idiom Definitions for ‘Cream rises to the top’
A good person or idea cannot go unnoticed for long, just as cream poured in coffee or tea eventually rises to the top.

Are you really living in that thing? I certainly hope not. But if you are, it won’t be long until you will be up in the hills with the stars. I have complete faith in you. I love you…

of course everyone in los angeles is trying to do the same thing that you are. what you’re doing is amazing! what’s true, though, is that they cannot do the same thing that you are–regardless of their bone structure or work ethic or the plans that they make–because they’re not you. and that makes all the difference…xoxo
